Have your ICT R&D expenditure risen by 10% or more per annum in public spending in last 3 available years? Yes Currently available data include the total volume of grants covering 17 different programs for R&D in various technological fields (i.e. including non ICT, yet with partially high ICT-intensity). According to these data the total amount up to 2011 has been increased by approx. 11% with relation to the year 2009 (Source: Statistics department FFG/Austria http://www.ffg.at/en).
Is ICT R&D a dedicated area in your Research and Development programme (either as a separate programme or a part of general R&D programme)? Yes There are several ICT-dedicated RTD programs. FIT-IT addressing high quality industrial research in 5 subdomains; BeneFIT addressing technologies for demographic change; AT-NET addressing deployment of broadband; Furthermore, Austria participates (with a surpassing share) in ARTEMIS, ENIAC, AAL, ITEA 2 and CATRENE with national investments.
