|Do you have a National Broadband Plan which specifies a set of measurable broadband targets or will you have such a plan in place before 31st December 2012?||Yes||The UK Government published their National Broadband Plan –“Britain’s Superfast Broadband Future” in December 2010. The strategy sets out how the UK will achieve its ambition of having the best superfast broadband network in Europe by 2015. |Does the Plan meet the European Commission's Digital Agenda for Europe target for 100% broadband coverage by 2013?||Yes||The UK already has 100% coverage of broadband and virtually everyone will have access to 2Mbps by 2015.|
|Does the Plan meet the European Commission's Digital Agenda for Europe target for 100% coverage over 30Mbps by 2020?||Yes||In delivering the UK government’s ambition to have the best superfast broadband network in Europe by 2015, we are aiming for at least 90% of households in the UK to have access to superfast services (meaning speeds in excess of 25 Mbps) with the rest of the population having access to connections of at least 2Mbps. This would represent substantial progress towards the 2020 DAE target of all of the population having access to 30 Mbps. The intention is that the solutions put in place should, as a minimum offer an upgrade path to higher speeds. Recent market developments mean that a substantial proportion of the UK population will have access to speeds in excess of 50 Mbps by 2015 with many able to access 100 Mbps services by then.|
|Does the Plan meet the European Commission's Digital Agenda for Europe target for 50% of households to have subscriptions over 100 Mbps by 2020?||Yes||Recent market developments mean that a substantial proportion of the UK population will have access to speeds in excess of 50 Mbps by 2015 with many able to access 100 Mbps services by then. This provides a firm foundation towards meeting the DAE targets.|
|Have supportive measures been introduced to support the achievement of National Broadband Plan targets?||Yes||The UK Government is investing £530m until 2015 to support our ambitions for 90% of households to access superfast broadband, and a further £150m to deliver ultrafast broadband in our cities.|
