|Are you using structural funds to finance the roll-out of high-speed networks?||Yes||In the framework of Operational Programme "Regional Development" 2007-2013 (OPRD), Priority axis: "Regional and local accessibility", Operation 2.2: "ICT network", 20 015 934 euro are used for the development of high-speed broadband in Bulgaria by building critical, secure, safe and reliable public ICT infrastructure. The project marks the beginning of construction of high-speed Internet in remote and rural areas. http://esmis.government.bg/page.php?c=88 Specific beneficiary of the measure is Executive Agency "Electronic communication networks and information systems" (EA ECNIS). The projects implementation started in January 2014 and it will lead to deployment of NGA network in remote and peripheral regions of Bulgaria. The measure should bridge the "digital divide" in terms of access to adequate broadband services between areas with such services available and "white areas". These "white areas" should be provided with all services which are currently available in urban areas, thereby fostering the economic and social development of the targeted areas. The measure is envisaged to improve the life quality of the citizens, improve and upgrade education methods and health services, develop tourism and provide fast and up-to-date information to citizens. The target group of the investment project is remote locations in rural and mountain areas throughout the country characterized by lack of broadband access, which are selected based on careful analysis of the collected information and data in a number of studies and development methodology. For the next programming period, 2014-2020, funding for the roll-out of high-speed networks will be ensured under Rural Development Programme.|
