|Is e-learning present in national curricula?||Yes||Action 16.13 of the Digital Strategy for Cyprus: Upgrade the infrastructure of the public tertiary education (E-UNIVERSITY). Three projects have been approved regarding the three State Universities: the University of Cyprus, the Cyprus University of Technology and the Open University of Cyprus. The projects aim to upgrade and develop the technological infrastructure that will provide the tools for integrated, automated and quality services for students, academic and administrative personnel.|
|Are there training initiatives (for teachers, enterprises) using eLearning tools on the national level?||Yes||There are eLearning programs for public servants, teachers and the public. Teachers: Seminars are organized periodically, to train the teachers in using the technology available in schools (hardware and software) and the technology provided by the Special Education Department. The newest technologies which are now presented in several mainstream classes across the country, such as interactive whiteboards and video-projectors, can also support inclusion on a high level, as they enhance teaching and learning in multiple ways. These technologies include multimedia which attract the students and also help them in attaining and retaining information. Last but not least, all mainstream classes are equipped with one or two desktop computers and a printer, used mainly for group work, and which can also assist learners with disabilities with a few modifications (such as use of different color background and font, magnification of text, and use of external devices such as switches and alternative keyboards). Public: Cyprus Productivity Centre’s Initiatives ( Since June 2010, the Cyprus Productivity Centre offers the possibility, via its Learning Management System “e Gnosis”, of free access to educational programs on e Skills, which are based on the 7 units of ECDL (European Computer Driving License).|
|Are there dissemination initiatives for awareness raising in place?||Yes||The Action 21.1 of the Digital Strategy for Cyprus regards the introduction of a comprehensive communication plan to promote the Digital Strategy, raise awareness about the benefits of using ICT and promote the existing egovernment services and digital literacy.|
|Are there national projects on creative classrooms and creative learning environments in place?||Yes||The Learning Management System (DIAS) This platform was launched on a pilot basis in 7 schools in April 2009.|
