Member States to double annual public spending on ICT research and development

Indicator Status Evidence
Have your ICT R&D expenditure risen by 10% or more per annum in public spending in last 3 available years? - The level of public spending on ICT R&D in 2010 was on about the same level as in 2008. But the level of spending into e- infrastructures will increase in 2011 and further significantly because of the use of SF for the construction of e-infrastructures.
Is ICT R&D a dedicated area in your Research and Development programme (either as a separate programme or a part of general R&D programme)? No No, nevertheless the area of ICT is included in one part (Progressive technologies, materials and systems) of general R&D programme "Alfa". E – infrastructures are a special group of facilities in the Roadmap of the Czech republic for large RnDnI infrastructures. The investment in building and operating them is a combination of national, EU and SF funding. The Czech contribution to JTI Artemis and ENIAC have a dedicated budget.
Has the total ICT R&D spending (private and public) risen by 10% per annum in the last 3 available years? - The total level of spending on ICT R&D in 2010 was on about the same level as in 2008.
Have the number of ICT researchers grown by at least 10% per annum in the last available 3 years? - Data are not available.
Are there targeted allocations of Structural Funds on ICT R&D? Yes The development of the large e-Infrastructure projects in Czech Republic (eIGeR - Extension of the National R&D Information Infrastructure in Regions – part of EGI, CERIT-Scientific Cloud, and supercomputing center IT4I linked to PRACE) is from a significant part funded from Structural Funds (ERDF, Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovations)
