Member States to agree on common additional functionalities for smart meters

Has the NRA (or country) conducted a cost benefit analysis on the roll-out of smart metering for electricity? Yes The Economic assessment of all the long-term costs and benefits for the market and the individual costumer through application of smart metering systems in the Czech Republic power sector was submited to the European Commission. NRA have approved the Economic assessment and its results. The CBA is included.
Does the Cost Benefit Analysis cover the 10 functionalities as per the European Commission Recommendations ? Yes The CBA follows the Commission Recomendation. The detailed comparison of economic evaluation of the preparation and implementation of AMM in the Czech Republic with the Recommendations of the European Commission of 9. 3. 2012 is attached to the Economic assessment.
Was the Cost Benefit Analysis positive in relation to the above-mentioned functionalities ? No Customers who use electricity for space heating and water heating make use of a double-tariff system interlinked with remote control of appliances by “district ripple load control”. This system gives to Distribution system operators strong tool for load profile optimization. Technological development, price decrease in the field of smart grids and metering, set EU communication and cyber security standards should enable positive result of CBA in future.
