Member States to mainstream eLearning in national policies

Is e-learning present in national programmes and action plans? Yes In 2010 two action plans were prepared to promote e-learning and use of ICT in education. Ministry of Education and Culture: Development of Information Society in education and training and Ministry of Transport and Communications: National Plan for Educational Use of Information and communications Technology.
Is e-learning present in national curricula? No A new curricula reform will take place in 2016. The re-newal work has been started in autumn 2012. The current curricula was adopted already in 2004. It promotes the use of ICT in education and digital literacy.
Are there training initiatives (for teachers, enterprises) using eLearning tools on the national level? Yes A framework for teachers' professional developmet on the use of ICT in education has bee updated in 2011 (ope.fi a.k.a teacher.eu). Teachers' professional development programmes has been promoted since 1995. It is and on-going work.
Are there dissemination initiatives for awareness raising in place? No Federation of Technology Industries is runnig an awareness raising campaign on women & technology. The campaign will run untill the end of 2012.
Are there national projects on creative classrooms and creative learning environments in place? Yes National Board of education has been funding large-scale projects on creative learning environments (www.oppiminen.fi). The sub projects consist on the following themes: 1. devices and programmes, 2. distance learning, 3, games and virtual worlds, 4. social media, 5. environments and spaces. Creative classrooms are promoted mainly by the education providers and schools themselves.

Other initiatives:

Part of the Government Agenda, each ministry is developing it's own 'smart strategy'. Also Ministry of Education and Culture is preparing such a this year.
